REVIEW: Hick

Hick - 2011

Director: Derick Portes
Written: Andrea Portes
Staring: Chloё Grace Moretz, Blake Lively, Eddie Redmayne, Juliette Lewis, Rory Culkin and Alec Baldwin

Inspired by the novel of the same name, Hick, is a coming-of-age story of 13-year-old Luli played by Hit Girl, Chloё Grace Moretz, or it is said to be... Once Luli, sets out on her Vegas-bound journey and meets red-neck cowboy Eddie (Eddie Redmayne) and cocaine loving Glenda (Blake Lively), the film’s main plot is lost in a bunch of poor flowing scenes with more mood changes than Tom Cruise changes wives.
There is just to many things to comment on within this film that i could go on all day.  So to save you good people time, with both, seeing this film and getting on with your day - here it is.
Hick Review in 10 points
1. Potential at the start of the film... then  downhill from there.
2. Her name is what? Luli?
3. I love the gifts she gets at her birthday.  Very ironic for a bunch of hicks.
4. Juliette Lewis plays the drunken red-neck she only knows how to play too well, fantastically.
5. Blake Lively actually does a half-decent hick accent. Surprised? I was. I still don't like her though.
6. Eddie Redmayne doesn't give us much in the acting department, I didn't even know what his characters deal was.  That is a bad sign.
7.  I found myself 45 minutes into the film trying to remember what the plot was.
8. Good soundtrack.  Some Bob Dylan never hurt anyone.
9. Rory Culkin's cameo is pointless... really.
10. And so was Alec Baldwin's... so much for all star cast.

After the many film references and its visually appealing final credits, Hick is overall just one big hick-up, easy to handle at first, but then slowly becomes more painful.

Best Part: Luli film impersonations.
Worst Part: Blake Lively's nails. YUK!
Memorable Quote: None... sadly.

Sydney!

Hi all!

I am currently in Sydney! Why Sydney you ask?

Well, I am here on business. I am starting tomorrow my placement for university at none other then Empire Magazine!
I am so excited and can't wait to see what happens while I am there.

Apart from seeing land marks such as, The Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, finally getting to Sydney was a challenge.

The plane that we flew up on had to be delayed for a few hours, turns out it was due to some dirty computer cords. Yay.

Can't wait for what tomorrow brings.
